STEWARDS

There seems to be a consensus that Christians treat other living things with contempt, as lesser beings, simply there to serve humans and to be exploited by man in any way he wishes.  However for many Christians, including myself, there is the alternative view that we are here on this earth as stewards, to nourish and protect all living things.  Creation is a precious gift that we have rubbished and taken for granted.  We need to know that there will be a price to pay.

Why else would it say in Romans… ‘For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.’

  1. I’m with you. I often tell my kids to take insects outside rather than kill them (unless it’s a wasp or cockroach). And I always say to them not to harm, but to appreciate, them, when they’re outside. I totally disagree that we can just trash the earth because one day God’s going to recreate it. He made us stewards of his creation.
