Jesus said to them, ‘Take care!  Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; for one’s life doesn’t consist in the abundance of possessions.’…

‘Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear, for life is more than food and the body more than clothing’…

‘For it is the nations of the world that strive after all these things, and your Father knows that you need them.  Instead strive for His kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well’.

Remembering those who served

In the early dawn they gather
rank on rank, the bugle sounds
the old men with their medals
the families gathered round

but just beyond the shadows
out where the darkness dims
where memories are whispering
the others gather in

they stand by their old comrades
in proud review they come
and ever on the morning chill
they hear the muffled drum

they come in from the battlefields
the beaches and the skies
from every place and every land
to where the loved flag flies

Haere mai, Haere mai…

I’ve always liked sketching, but never really been brave enough to go out sketching in public, so I’ve joined an on-line group learning a bit more about it.   I’ve even got a little paint-box to take out with me, so I tried that out today and did a couple of scribbles.  Trouble is my eyesight is not as good as it used to be, and the writing on the little half-pans in the paint-box is so small I had to get out a magnifying glass to read them.  Of course I can see the colors but I wanted to make sure I had their names exactly right.  Life has it’s challenges.
