These photos were taken in part of the Waipu Ecological District protected area. This is the area of the Waipu River Estuary and Sandspit, which is a marginal strip and wildlife refuge where Torea and other birds are nesting. Although no dogs are allowed in this area, sadly I photographed three people and their dogs in the lagoon not far from the nesting area.

Home, after a wonderful trip seeing friends and family. We travelled up to Rotorua through snow on the Desert Road, and froze for a couple of nights before summer came back again… These are some of the pictures from our stay with Carley and Hans in their lovely home at Awakaponga. Even the washing line is romantic…
